Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme present in all living cells and central to redox metabolism. Oral precursors are sold as supplements in many markets; injectable and IV presentations sit in a different regulatory category.
NAD+ participates in redox reactions and serves as a substrate for sirtuins and PARP enzymes, pathways studied in ageing and metabolic research.
Human research largely concerns oral precursors and reports biomarker changes; clinical-outcome evidence remains emerging. Evidence for injectable or IV NAD+ delivering claimed benefits is limited.

In South Africa, a product intended to treat, prevent or otherwise affect the functioning of the body is a medicine and must be registered with SAHPRA before it may lawfully be sold. An unregistered compound cannot be advertised or supplied to the public, regardless of the evidence behind it.
