Every compound entry in our research library carries two plain labels: how mature the human evidence is, and what its regulatory status is. Where the honest label is 'insufficient', that is what we print.
Evidence maturity
- Established
Consistent findings from adequately powered, replicated human trials, generally supported by regulatory assessment for a defined indication.
- Emerging
Human data exist and are encouraging, but are limited in size, duration or independence. Conclusions may change.
- Investigational
Under formal clinical investigation. Not approved for public use, and outcomes and safety are still being determined.
- Preclinical
Findings come from cells or animal models. Interesting biology; not a human result.
- Insufficient Evidence
The honest answer today is that nobody knows. Absence of evidence is neither reassurance nor condemnation.
- Regulatory Status Varies
Classification differs between countries. Local law, registration and prescription requirements always apply.
Four questions to ask of any health claim.
